An access control system consists of readers (can be access cards, biometric, by code ...), sensors (closing contacts for doors, access buttons ...) and actuators (electronic lockers, alarms. ..)
From a computer the control program monitors and records the changes in a central database. These systems can be extended through a multitude of gateways and controllers, being able to cover several buildings away one from each other.
With an access system installed, the SCADA can graphically access a menu where it is allowed to lock, unlock and open any controlled door.
